Hello, my fellow travelers! In the final episode of our Niyamas series, we will explore Ishvara Pranidhana, which translates as 'surrender to the divine'.
Ishvara Pranidhana, in a general sense, signifies recognizing that we cannot control the outcome of life and surrendering our efforts and results to a higher power. We strive to achieve our desired outcome, but we also learn to accept the result.
To better understand this principle, let me share a modern story. This story is about an Olympic athlete. The athlete dedicates their life to this competition. They wake up early every day, engage in intense training, pay attention to their nutrition, and constantly work to improve their performance. However, on the day of the competition, no matter how well they perform, they cannot entirely control the outcome. Other athletes' performances, weather conditions, and even their own health on that particular day can influence the result. At this point, the athlete surrenders all their efforts and results to a higher power, to the flow of the universe.
In Turkish folklore, we can also find stories that represent this principle. For example, in a Karagöz and Hacivat play, Karagöz takes on a task, but the outcome doesn't turn out as expected. Karagöz realizes that he cannot control the result and instead of being disappointed, he laughs and continues on with the flow of life.
Ishvara Pranidhana teaches us to accept that we cannot control the outcomes of life and to surrender our efforts and results to a higher power. The stories of the Olympic athlete and Karagöz demonstrate the profound meaning and universal applicability of this principle.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's episode, where we will share yoga and meditation techniques aligned with the principle of Ishvara Pranidhana. Discover how to adapt more easily to the flow of life!
