Hello, my fellow travelers! In the fourth episode of our Niyamas series, we will explore Svadhyaya, which translates as 'self-study'.

Svadhyaya signifies the effort to understand oneself and one's inner world. This principle encourages us to examine both our thoughts and actions.

Let me share the story of a man who was once a great mathematician. He encountered a complex mathematical problem that he couldn't solve. The problem was beyond his comprehension, and despite utilizing all his knowledge and skills, he couldn't find a solution. This situation led him to deep self-reflection and self-study. He questioned his way of thinking, his methods of understanding, and his problem-solving strategies. He turned inward, attempting to understand his weaknesses and strengths. Eventually, through this inner journey, he discovered a new approach to solve the problem.

In Turkish folklore, many stories of Nasreddin Hoca represent the principle of Svadhyaya. For example, in one story, instead of searching for his lost ring at home, Nasreddin Hoca looks for it on the street because there is more light there. This story reminds us of the importance of inner understanding over external solutions. If Nasreddin Hoca truly wanted to find his ring, he would have realized that he needed to search even in the darkest places.

Svadhyaya is a journey of understanding and developing ourselves. The stories of the mathematician and Nasreddin Hoca illustrate the universal applicability and profound meaning of this principle.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's episode, where we will share yoga and meditation techniques aligned with the principle of Svadhyaya. Discover how to deepen your self-understanding and personal growth!

Share with me what Svadhyaya has taught you in your life. Let's learn and grow together!
