The Five Paths of Yoga: Yamas Series Episode 3 - Asteya (Non-stealing)

Writer's picture: Yoga MolaYoga Mola

Hello, dear fellow travelers! Welcome to the third step of our Yamas series. In the first two episodes, we discussed Ahimsa (Non-violence) and Satya (Truth). Today, we will focus on Asteya, the third yama of yoga and meditation, which translates as 'non-stealing'.

Asteya is a Sanskrit word that means 'non-stealing'. However, it goes beyond physical theft and includes not taking someone's time, energy, or ideas without permission.

Let's provide an example of how Asteya can be applied to our daily lives. When having a conversation with a friend, you give them your full attention and avoid interrupting them. This shows that you're not stealing their time and energy, and it exemplifies the practice of Asteya.

In this post, we explored Asteya, the third yama of yoga and meditation. Not stealing someone's time, energy, or ideas and always showing respect form the essence of this

Feel free to share what Asteya has taught you in your life. Share your thoughts on how we can better integrate Asteya into our daily lives.

Our journey continues with Asteya, the third step of this summer series. In the next post, we will explore the fourth yama, 'Brahmacharya,' which encompasses the principle of moderation and conscious use of energy.
