Hello, dear fellow travelers! Welcome to the second episode of the Eight Limbs of Yoga: Yamas Series. In this series, we explore the eight limbs of yoga and meditation, concepts derived from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.
Throughout each month, we delve into each limb and how they can be applied to our lives. Our second destination is Satya, which means 'truth'.
Satya is a Sanskrit word that translates as 'truth'. Satya represents the principle of speaking the truth and embodying honesty. This yama encourages us to recognize the truth within ourselves and progress towards openness and honesty.
Let's provide an example of how Satya can be applied to our daily lives. Imagine a friend asks you a question, and you don't know the exact truth. To practice Satya, you can choose to be honest and express that you don't know the truth. This is an example of maintaining honesty and transparency with others.
In this second episode of our summer series, we explored what Satya is and how it can be applied. The principle of truth guides us on the path of internal and external consistency and integrity.
Feel free to share what Satya has taught you in your life. Share your thoughts on how you can better integrate Satya into your daily life.
Our journey continues with Satya, the second step of this summer series. In the next post, we will explore the third yama, 'Asteya,' which means 'non-stealing.'
